Installation height
At what height do you find a chandelier most beautiful? There are no rules for the 'correct' installation height of a chandelier. However, in order to get a feel for which mounting height is suitable for your home, we have put together a few tips for you.
- When placed over a table, the chandelier should hang at a distance of 150 cm from the floor.
- If a chandelier hangs freely in the room or above an entrance, a distance of at least 200 cm to the floor should be maintained.
This simple formula helps to calculate the chain length:
Room height - height of the chandelier - ((150cm) 200 cm + x cm) = length of the chain
For example:
Room height 280cm
Height of the chandelier - 40cm
Passage height - 200cm*
Length of the chain = 40cm
* use 150 instead of 200 if you plan to hang the chandelier over a table
The higher the ceiling in a room, there is more distance from the floor. This should be considered for both aesthetic and practical reasons. The height of the chandelier is very important, as the installation height and the chain length must be adjusted accordingly.
