Recessed and surface-mounted lights - minimum space, maximum effect
Planning and installing recessed lights can be a major challenge for DIY enthusiasts. The annoying sawing and fitting of lights is often a deterrent. In many rooms, however, the structural situation only allows this form of ceiling and wall lights. The big advantage is that the entire installation disappears in the ceiling or wall and you can only see the light itself. All models can be used as wall or ceiling lights so nothing stands in the way of your creativity.
As with any project, good planning is necessary. We'll show you how to take everything important into account in just six steps.
1. Placement is half the battle
With recessed spotlights, one of the first thoughts is ceiling installation as the most common area of application. In addition, you can redesign other areas of your home in a stylish way using the simplest means - in a corridor, for example, you can highlight corners and edges with built-in wall lights. This is where style and security meet; never miss a step again in dim ambient life. When placing your recessed lights, however, think about protection class level - use wall and ceiling recessed lights in the bathroom if they have the appropriate protection class level, which is typically IP44 rated or above.
2. Installation depth
An important factor in planning is the installation depth. But don't worry, we have the right light for you for every depth:
GU10 illuminants require an installation depth of 105-125mm, but offer you the option of using conventional light sources. With this, you have the option to switch to inexpensive LED technology at any time. You can easily change the light source without removing the entire light from the process. To install these lights, you need a little more space between the ceiling and plasterboard.
Similarly with high-voltage LED recessed lights, you need 35mm of space to fit these lights. With the practical connection boxes, nothing stands in the way of creating your ideal lighting.
The best space-saving variant is our low-voltage LED recessed lights. With an installation depth of only 25mm, you do not need a lot of space to incorporate the spotlights.
3. Tension makes a difference
There are two different types of voltage for recessed lights - high-voltage and low-voltage lights. You have to connect the lights, with the only difference between the two types of voltage being a transformer is required (supplied) for low-voltage lights and not for high-voltage lighting. Both variants can be controlled with 230V-240V, so there are no changes required for your existing electrical system.
4. Tap, turn, press - easy control
Have you already installed your lighting products and all the wall switches have been installed? We have built-in lights that are equipped with 3-level dimming function and thus offer you three different brightness levels, with no additional dimmer installation. This means you can avoid additional costs for conversion.
Would you like to dim your lights, or are you already using a dimmer switch? When purchasing, make sure your light is marked as 'dimmable'. This allows you to adjust light intensity the way you want it.

5. More light, more style
Round, square, silver, matt, chrome… With our recessed lights, you have a large selection of colours, shapes and materials. Lighting has to adapt to the room and provide good light. Recessed lights are available in various shapes such as round, angular or square with rounded corners. There are also lights with swivelling and fixed alignment as needed. With this function, you can control light in a targeted way and swivel it where needed to highlight your book collection or picture frame.
6. Drill, screw, insert - easy assembly
Good planning is integral for this DIY. Use a hole cutter (for small recessed lights) or a jigsaw (for larger recessed lights) to prepare the area. Pull the connection cable out of the opening, then connect the light and if necessary, also connect the lighting ring cable. The integrated retaining clips enable easy installation and ensure a perfect hold. Insert the recessed light into the area and press lightly. Finished! This is how you install any recessed light quickly and easily.
Recessed lighting is quick and easy to assemble, as well as adding style to your home. With the six steps to perfect your built-in lighting, you are well prepared for your new project. Have fun!
