Lighting Glossary

Term: Luminous Efficacy
The luminous efficacy is a measure for the efficiency of a lamp. It says how much luminous flux (lumen) per Watt (W) is generated. The higher the ration of lumen/Watt, the higher is the conversion ratio from electrical energy into light energy. Any losses caused by control devices are not taken into account.
